The Rhythm of Self Time
2022
Oil , video
Dimensions variable
There are 24 hours in a day
1440 minutes in 24 hours
We have 86,400 seconds in one day
Time is accurately divided
We rely on it to structure our lives
We divide each task into small sections and measure them with precision
Try to look directly at now and here
Return to a time in our body and mind
We will find that the body naturally has its own rhythm
From this rhythm, we can understand our breath, thoughts, and movements
From the outside to the inside, look directly inside oneself for 86,400 seconds
It will be found that we remove the specification of "time"
Escape the shackles of time
We are no longer stuck in time
No longer limited by self-enforcing powers that we must follow
We return to ourselves
View ourselves not as machines but as human beings
We return to our rhythm
I have recorded the time of day by drawing lines. There are 24 hours and 86,400 seconds in a day, and the lines in the four oil paintings represent precisely 86,400 seconds.
Drawing every second, I found that my perception of time differs from that of mechanical clocks during the painting process. If physical perception dominates time, I have already felt 24 hours of mechanical time in just 11.5 hours.
When the body's rhythm differs from the clock's time, how should I spend the remaining 12.5 hours in my perception? How can I escape the shackles of time?
Through the soreness of my body, the chemical taste of oil paint, the silent recitation in my mouth (I am accustomed to using 1-10 as the measurement unit), and the rhythm of my fingers, I experienced a lot.
These experiences and narratives are partly displayed in the lines, some remain in my body and memory, and the rest is left for the audience to experience.
