Planting the possible and the impossible

Planting – a purposeful behaviour that involves regular self-hypnotisation. Tilling the soil, planting the seeds, irrigating; with sunlight, the seed germinates, flowers and bears fruit. This is not the end though – the story flips back to its opening chapter, with an extra dose of effort added in. Is water still water, the seed still seed? Tilling, planting, irrigating; sunlight, germination, flowering and fruits. An endless story; a perpetual process that gives meaning to existence.

Walk in time.

Hope in plant.

A seed is put in cement. Since then, its daily irrigation comes with the hope that one day, it can go against the laws of nature and germinate, flower and bear fruit.

Audience can freely play with, step, sit, lay down or even take away the cement orbs. Through observing the cement’s colour, surface, and seed condition, they may come to comprehend the experience of the artist’s daily irrigation. In the exhibition, a video recording of the creation is shown as a chronicle for planting, breathing and self-talk, and to express how the artist steps in and out of imagination and reality. Day by day, the repeated action speaks a hope for succession but also how it breaks down – all these happening in a natural context.
